Before, I photoshopped the screen to place the ethnicity notation next to the name.
The FTM 2012 workaround would be to place the notation in the 'suffix' field when you enter the name.
The results are circled in red.
Here, you see the 'edit name' screen with the 'suffix' field circled in green.
In the top screenshot, in the individual's box on the right, you see a 'customized fact' for ethnicity circled in blue. To achieve this, go to the bottom of the screen and click on 'customize view' circled below in orange.
From the 'customize view' window, click on 'new custom fact; create the fact (here I chose ethnicity, I may change it to race), place it where you want it - and you're done! From now on it will show up on all of your individuals as a field you fill in with the appropriate data. Cool!
We're getting there, but the programmers can still make it easier for us!
